Tech. Sgt. Timothy Bieber, of the 119th Civil Engeer Squadron, throws a sandbag into the bucket of a farm tractor April 12, along with several members of a North Dakota National Guard quick response force team near Enderlin, N.D. The QRF is responding to a request from a farm resident through the Cass County Emergency Operations Center for sandbag assistance to create a flood levee barrier to rising water around his house. The tractor is one of the few vehicles light enough and high enough to cross a precarious section of flooded roadway leading to the farmstead without damaging the road. As of April 12, nearly 500 N.D. National Guard airmen and soldiers are currently conducting flood operations in North Dakota, with the vast majority in Cass County.
