    YOKOSUKA, Japan (Oct. 8, 2017) The Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Fitzgerald (DDG 62) leaves Dry Dock 4 at Fleet Activities (FLEACT) Yokosuka to move to a new position pierside in preparation for its upcoming transit to the United States to undergo further repairs and upgrades. Fitzgerald was damaged in a collision June 17, 2017 with a civilian container ship. FLEACT Yokosuka provides, maintains, and operates base facilities and services in support of the U.S. 7th Fleet's forward-deployed naval forces, 71 tenant commands, and 24,000 military and civilian personnel.
