    YOKOSUKA, Japan (Oct. 8, 2017) The Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Fitzgerald (DDG 62) moves to a new position pierside after leaving dry dock at Fleet Activities (FLEACT) Yokosuka in preparation for its upcoming transit to the United States to undergo further repairs and upgrades. Fitzgerald was damaged in a collision June 17, 2017 with a civilian container ship. FLEACT Yokosuka provides, maintains, and operates base facilities and services in support of 7th Fleet's forward-deployed naval forces, 71 tenant commands, and 24,000 military and civilian personnel.
