170917-N-NP779-049 KEY WEST, Fla. – Army Capt. Natalia Sorensen from Miami, assigned to the 1-124 Infantry Battalion, and Chief Hospitalman Daniel D. Freeland from Waterloo, Iowa, senior enlisted leader for Naval Branch Health Clinic Key West, administer inoculations to sailors aboard State University of New York Maritime College’s training ship Empire State VI after it pulled in to Naval Air Station Key West as part of an ongoing FEMA effort to provide aid to local citizens in the wake of Hurricane Irma. Empire State will act as a floating berthing for state and federal first responders. The Department of Defense is supporting FEMA, the lead federal agency, in helping those affected by Hurricane Irma to minimize suffering and is one component of the overall whole-of-government response effort.
