170909-N-GR120-853 VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (Sept. 9, 2017) Attendees of the Hampton Roads Morning of Hope walk, including Sailors from the Nimitz-Class aircraft carrier USS George Washington (CVN 73), begin the walk by going through 1,000 origami cranes. The Morning of Hope walk was sponsored by the Hampton Roads Survivors of Suicide Support Group to raise suicide awareness. George Washington is undergoing a refueling and complex overhaul (RCOH) at Newport News Shipyard. RCOH is a nearly four-year project performed only once during a carrier’s 50-year service life that includes refueling of the ship’s two nuclear reactors, as well as significant repair, upgrades and modernization.
