III Marine Expeditionary Force

Carrie Martelo, a Fort Worth, Texas native and pilot for Marine Aerial Refueler Squadron 152, Marine Aircraft Group 36, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, III Marine Expeditionary Force, conducts preflight checks prior to departing for mainland Japan in support of Operation Tomodachi, March 18. III MEF Marines and sailors are supporting Government of Japan-led humanitarian assistance/disaster relief operations in mainland Japan following the 9.0 magnitude earthquake and subsequent tsunami that struck northern Japan, March 11.
