U.S. Army retired Staff Sgt. Daniel Burgess, formerly with the 350th Tactical Psychological Operations Company, speaks during the Operation Proper Exit town hall meeting, Aug. 8, at Camp Arifjan, Kuwait. Burgess describes how he stepped on an improvised explosive device, which caused him to suffer an amputation and multiple other injuries. Burgess, along with four other combat wounded veterans and a gold star father, will visit Iraq and Afghanistan as part of Operation Proper Exit, a program which enables wounded combat veterans to return to theater and exit on their own terms.
