U.S. Navy Hospital Corpsman 1st Class Virgil Newton, assigned to Construction Diving Detachment Alfa (CDDA), Underwater Construction Team 2, assesses the condition of an unconscious diver during a scenario based training evolution. CDDA is assessing the Harbor Master Pier in order to develop a comprehensive repair plan that will extend the facility’s service life providing critical berthing space for U.S. 7th Fleet assets. CDDA is on the first stop of their six-month deployment, where they are conducting inspections, maintenance, and repairs of various underwater and waterfront facilities in support of the U.S. Pacific Fleet.
