BAY OF BENGAL (July 15, 2017) An E-2D Hawkeye, from the “Bluetails” of Carrier Airborne Early Warning Squadron (VAW) 121, flies above the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz (CVN 68) while Nimitz Sailors, and distinguished visitors from India and Japan, watch from the flight deck of Nimitz during Exercise Malabar, July 15, 2017, in the Bay of Bengal during Exercise Malabar. Malabar 2017 is the latest in a continuing series of exercises between the Indian navy, Japan Maritime Self Defense Force and U.S. Navy that has grown in scope and complexity over the years to address the variety of shared threats to maritime security in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.
