The relief commander conducts a detailed white-glove inspection of the weapon, checking each part of the rifle belonging to the Sentinel at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier during the Changing of Guard ritual on July 11.
Regardless of the weather conditions, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier is guarded 24 hours a day, 365 days a year by Soldiers of the 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard).
