Coast Guard Petty Officers 3rd Class Mark R. Campanale and Christopher B. Sullivan evaluate how well absorbent pads are soaking up petroleum products in the water at McCotters Marina on Saturday morning, Jan. 8. Diesel fuel, gasoline and lubrication products were released into Broad Creek following a fire at the marina early Friday morning, and the Coast Guard and local contractors worked through the weekend to contain the light sheen and oily debris that remain.
