Devrick Phillips and Susannah Preacher work together on scrapbooking project during the second annual Survivor Outreach Services holiday gathering Dec. 11 at Fort Jackson, S.C. Sponsored by the Army Reserve’s 81st Regional Support Command and hosted by Maj. Gen. Bill Gerety, the event brought several dozen “Gold Star” families of deceased Soldiers from more than 200 miles to the Columbia, S.C. area for several hours to remember and celebrate those who were lost. Phillip’s uncle, Staff Sgt. Ronald Phillips Jr., 3, of Conway, S.C., died Sept. 25, 2008. Preacher’s brother, Sgt. Matthew Preacher died Jan. 26, 2009.
