170515-N-AA727-018 SAN DIEGO (May 15, 2017) Fire Controlman 1st Class Niklaus Pegler, from Monette, Arkansas, conducts an inspection of the multi-function racks aboard Independence-variant littoral combat ship USS Jackson (LCS 6) during Final Contract Trials (FCT). FCT evaluates the material condition and performance of the ship’s major systems including main propulsion, ship control systems, combat systems, and damage control systems. After FCT, Jackson begins a Post Shakedown Availability, during which required repairs identified during combat systems ship qualification trails and FCT are made using contractor and program office money.
