JOINT BASE ELMENDORF-RICHARDSON, Alaska -- Air Force maintainers with the 67th Aircraft Maintenance Unit perform a "wet motor" on a 67th Fighter Squadron F-15C Eagle during Exercise Northern Edge 17(NE17) here May 4. The "wet motor" is performed after spare engine installation to remove fluid that protects the spare from corrosion but would burn too hot for the engine if ignited. NE17 is a joint training exercise involving more than 6,000 service members across all service branches.
