USS COMSTOCK, At Sea (Jan. 21, 2017) U.S. Marines with the Maritime Raid Force, 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), sight in on floating targets during a sniper and machine gun shoot conducted aboard the USS Comstock (LSD 45) while afloat at sea, Jan. 21. During the shoot, the Marines shot the M110 Semi-Automatic Sniper System and M240B medium machinegun, two weapon systems the MRF use to conduct maritime interception operations. The Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group and 11th MEU provide U.S. 5th Fleet a versatile sea-based, expeditionary force that can be tailored to a variety of missions from combat operations to humanitarian assistance.
