Angela Rivera, a poolee with Recruiting Sub-Station Gresham and a senior at Centennial High School, stands at the peak of Angel's Rest Hiking Trail, Portland, March 18, 2017. The poolees climbed 1,450 feet in elevation to the peak of the trail as a way to prepare for the physical demands of Marine Corps Recruit Training. Rivera enlisted in the Marine Corps as a way to challenge herself more than she ever had before. "I've always wanted to be a part of something bigger than myself and serve my country, and decided the Marine Corps was right for me," said Rivera.
