Big, an improvised explosive device detection dog, retrieves a training aid from an abandoned vehicle for his handler, Cpl. Chuck Marion, 23, a dog handler from Syracuse, N.Y., during Enhanced Mojave Viper. Dog handlers with 1st Combat Engineer Battalion participated in a three-day exercise, putting their dogs in different situations and environments to help prepare them for a deployment to Afghanistan. Enhanced Mojave Viper is the Marine Corps’ desert warfare training program used to prepare Marines for tours in Afghanistan.
