O'Brien, Operations Flight Commander of AFROTC Detachment 520 at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY, where he supervises the cadet wing in the conduct of Leadership Laboratory (LLAB) activities, teaches Aerospace Studies and Leadership courses and manages programs to identify, attract, and retain cadets for the AFROTC program, while working on his Ph.D. in Engineering, serves as the team's faculty advisor with hopes that such a presence will draw science and technology students to a career in research with the U.S. Air Force.
