PEARL HARBOR (Dec. 6, 2016) Dean Harvest, a Kahu minister, reads a Hawaiian prayer aboard the USS Arizona Memorial during an Interfaith Prayer service and Floral Tribute. The event allowed religious leaders from the U.S. military, Hawaii, and Japan to engage in prayer to honor the fallen service members. Dec. 7, 2016, marks the 75th anniversary of the attacks on Pearl Harbor and Oahu. Since Dec. 7, 1941, the U.S. and Japan have endured more than 70 years of continued peace, a cornerstone of security and prosperity in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region. As a Pacific nation, the U.S. is committed to continue its responsibility of protecting the Pacific sea-lanes, advancing international ideals and relationships, well as delivering security, influence and responsiveness in the region.
