USS SOMERSET, At sea (Oct. 21, 2016) – Landing support Sailors carry off the tie-down chains from an AH-1Z Cobra before it takes off from the USS Somerset (LPD 25) Oct. 21, 2016, during Hawaii Sustainment Training for the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit and Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group. The ship’s landing support team owns this final step prior to takeoff, but the entire process is a fully integrated, Navy-Marine cooperation. The Sailors are with the USS Somerset and the aircraft and its crew are with Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 163 (Reinforced), 11th MEU.
