USS SOMERSET, At sea (Oct. 21, 2016) – Lance Cpl. Austin Soto prepares an AH-1Z Cobra for flight aboard the USS Somerset (LPD 25) Oct. 21, 2016, during Hawaii Sustainment Training for the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit and Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group. Preparing an aircraft for a flight prior to a mission is a methodical and decisive task of highly trained and skilled avionics mechanics; they ensure the aircraft’s systems operate at full capacity. Soto is a helicopter mechanic, he and the aircraft are with Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 163 (Reinforced), 11th MEU.
