Thomas Rowden hugs, ship sponsor, Ann Zumwalt during the commissioning ceremony for the Navy's newest and most technologically advanced warship, USS Zumwalt (DDG 1000) at North Locust Point in Baltimore. Crewed by 147 Sailors, Zumwalt is the lead ship of a class of next-generation destroyers designed to strengthen naval power by performing critical maritime missions and enhancing U.S. deterrence, power projection and sea control objectives.
