160902-N-JH668-285 SAN PEDRO, California (Sept. 2, 2016) – Hospital Corpsman 2nd Class Tiffany Parsons, assigned to amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6) and a Huntsville, Alabama native, cuddles a dog while participating in a “Pets Are Wonderful Support” volunteer event during the inaugural Los Angeles Fleet Week. Fleet week offers the public an opportunity to tour ships, meet Sailors, Marines, and members of the Coast Guard and gain a better understanding of how the sea service support the national defense of the United States and freedom of the seas.
