Before heading out for a vehicle tour of Gonaives, Maj. Gen. Simeon Trombitas, commanding general, JTF-Haiti, and Maj. Gen. Luiz Guilherme Paul Cruz, force commander, MINUSTAH, took a moment to talk with MINUSTAH Soldiers. Trombitas was in Gonaives for a meeting with World Food Program officials and MINUSTAH force commanders and discuss the upcoming preparations in place for the rainy season. The group stopped at a World Food Program warehouse and saw the food supply in case of an emergency. Gonaives suffered major damage from tropical storms several years back and is still feeling the effects of the damage. Officials want to be better prepared should storms of that magnitude hit the area.
