A recruit from Echo Company, 2nd Recruit Training Battalion, helps put protective equipment onto another recruit during pugil sticks at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, Aug. 10. During this event, recruits have the opportunity to battle other recruits and use the skills taught to them while aboard the depot. Annually, more than 17,000 males recruited from the Western Recruiting Region are trained at MCRD San Diego. Echo Company is scheduled to graduate Oct. 21.
