A recruit from Echo Company, 2nd Recruit Training Battalion, executes a forward thrust during bayonet techniques at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, Aug. 10. Throughout recruit training, MCMAP classes are taught to instill hand-to-hand combat techniques and warrior ethos. Annually, more than 17,000 males recruited from the Western Recruiting Region are trained at MCRD San Diego. Echo Company is scheduled to graduate Oct. 21.
