MARINE CORPS BASE HAWAII – A model of a Wave Energy Conversion device is displayed during the Wave Energy Testing Site blessing ceremony near the French Battery aboard Marine Corps Base Hawaii, July 26, 2016. Attendees of the ceremony were shown a visual representation of one of the three WEC devices, off shore of the base. The site was blessed by a Hawaiian minister to protect the Wave Energy Conversions devices and the staff that work on the site. The WEC devices harness the energy from ocean waves, an abundant and renewable energy. The WEC devices near the base are currently in the prototype stage, but with more research and development can help provide electricity to impoverished coastal cities and military installations.
