New York Army National Guard Spc. Omar Ortego, an infantry assistant team leader assigned to Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 69th Infantry Regiment based in New York City provides security for his platoon during training at the Joint Readiness Training Center, Ft. Polk, La, July 23. Approximately 3,000 Soldiers from New York joined 2,000 other state Army National Guard units, active Army and Army Reserve troops as part of the 27th Infantry Brigade Combat Team task force. The Soldiers are honing their skills and practicing integrating combat operations ranging from infantry troops engaging in close combat with an enemy to integrating artillery and aviation, July 9-30, 2016.
