Military members from NATO allied nations visit Memorial Park la Fiere, June 4, 2016 in Sainte-Mère-Église, France. Memorial Park is dedicated to airborne troops that lost their lives during the airdrops on D-Day. During World War II, the Battle of Normandy began on D-Day, June 6, 1944, when approximately 156,000 American, British and Canadian forces landed on five beaches along a 50-mile stretch of the coast of France’s Normandy region. The events in honor of D-Day, June 3 to 6, 2016, were held in cities throughout Normandy and were open to all guests. (U.S. Air Force photo by Senior Airman Justine Rho/Released)
