Lt. Clark Ross, assigned to the Fighting Tigers of Patrol Squadron (VP) 8, welcomes members of Japan Maritime Self Defense Force’s Fleet Air Wing 5 on May 23, in preparation for a Combined Maritime Patrol exercise scheduled for May 24. The objective of the exercise is to improve Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) readiness, increasing efficiency and interoperability between the two partner nations, in an effort to cohesively accomplish the same operational goals. VP-8 is currently deployed to the SEVENTH Fleet area of operation conducting ISR missions and providing Maritime Domain Awareness to supported units throughout the Pacific theater.
