BAGHDAD, Sgt. Charles Knauff, a native of Mowrystown, Ohio, who serves as an electrician supervisor with Company A, 62nd Engineer Battalion, 16th Engineer Brigade, Multi-National Division-Baghdad, installs lights in a tent June 12 that will soon shelter Iraqi army soldiers on Joint Patrol Base Lions Den, southwest of Baghdad. Simple luxuries like electric lights, air conditioning and wall sockets are just some of the many improvements made to the base to increase the overall standard of living for both MND-B and Iraqi soldiers living there. Other upgrades made since January include road construction, digging up septic tanks, making ditches for new plumbing and setting up a gravel lot as an Iraqi army motor pool. The JPB will eventually be handed over to the IA.
