U.S Marines and Sailors take control of a rope that tells the distance between the USS Ashland (LSD 48) and the USNS John Ericsson Feb. 4, 2016, during a resupply at sea. A RAS is used to resupply a ship so it can stay at sea longer. The Ashland recently left from White Beach, Okinawa, Japan, with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit for their spring deployment.
