Marines and sailors on board the USS Ashland (LSD 48) look on while the USNS John Ericsson approaches the Ashland at sea Feb. 4, 2015. The Ashland recently embarked with Marines of the 31st Marine Expeditionary unit as part of the MEU’s spring deployment. The Spring Deployment is a regularly scheduled deployment focusing on training, interoperability of forces, and assistance in humanitarian and civic assistance operations with partner nations throughout the Pacific.
