151027-N-UY393-119 SAN DIEGO (Oct. 27, 2015) – Capt. Michael W. Baze, commanding officer of the amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6), discusses the upgrades the ship is receiving while giving a tour to Rear Adm. Victorino Mercado, Director, Assessment Division (OPNAV N81). America is currently undergoing a Post-Shakedown Availability (PSA) in which the ship’s crew and assigned contractors make improvements to the ship’s design.
