151027-N-UY393-007 SAN DIEGO (Oct. 27, 2015) – Rear Adm. Victorino Mercado, Director, Assessment Division (OPNAV N81), is greeted by Capt. Michael W. Baze, commanding officer of the amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6) on the pier before touring the ship. America is currently undergoing a post-shakedown availability (PSA) in which the ship’s crew and assigned contractors make improvements to the ship’s design.
