Lance Cpl. Joseph M. Sachs II maintains security outside a hostage barricade during a mock active shooter scenario Sept. 23 as part of Exercise Constant Vigilance 2015 aboard Camp Courtney, Okinawa, Japan. The Provost Marshal’s Office Marines held security while medical personnel cleared the building of casualties before calling additional support to breach the barricade and recover the hostage. Constant Vigilance is an annual training exercise held across Marine Corps Installations on Okinawa to ensure all personnel across the bases are proficient in mitigating and responding to potential security and terrorist risks and hazards and emergency situations. Sachs is a military police officer with PMO, Headquarters and Support Battalion, MCIPAC-Marine Corps Base Camp Butler, Japan and an Inverness, Florida, native.
