Sgt. Karl T. Duffey lies on a gurney in an ambulance truck as a simulated casualty as part of a mock active shooter scenario Sept. 23 during Exercise Constant Vigilance 2015 aboard Camp Courtney, Okinawa, Japan. Duffey played the part of a victim in need of intensive medical care during the scenario. The mock active shooter situation brought together multiple emergency responders such as sections within the Provost Marshal’s Office and medical technicians with the Marine Corps Installations Pacific fire department. Constant Vigilance is an annual training exercise that ensures MCIPAC facilities on Okinawa are trained and ready to deal with a wide variety of scenarios to include emergency, medical, security and terrorist response. Duffey is a cyber network operator with Headquarters Battalion, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force and a Durham, North Carolina, native.
