Airman 1st Class Jonathon Archer, 374th Operations Support Squadron aircraft flight equipment technician, melts frayed cloth on a parachute during Red Flag-Alaska at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska, Aug. 18, 2015. Melting the cloth prevents further fraying and prolongs the lifespan of the parachute.
