Newly promoted Col. Dave Buckingham (right), of Manns Choice, Pa., thanks Command Sgt. Maj. Frank Grippe, of Multi-National Corps – Iraq, after Grippe donned Buckingham's headgear with his new rank, Sept. 1, at Combat Outpost Cashe South, Iraq, located in the Ma'dain region outside eastern Baghdad. Grippe served as Buckingham's first sergeant during when Buckingham served as a company commander in the 75th Ranger Regiment. Buckingham thanked Grippe for all his guidance over the years and his friendship. Buckingham now serves as the commander of the 5th Squadron, 73rd Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, Multi-National Division – Baghdad.
