In this work from the U.S. Coast Guard Art Program 2015 Collection, “Shuttle Launch Security,” ID# 201517, a Coast Guard Station Port Canaveral crew aboard a 45-foot response boat-medium patrols the waters off launch pad B in Florida during the early morning hours of launch day for the space shuttle Endeavour. The Coast Guard has provided a safety and security service to the Kennedy Space Center and Cape Canaveral Air Force Station since the rollout of the current space shuttle program in 1980.
