U.S. Air Force Lt. Col. Ryan Elliott (right), New Horizons Honduras commander and 823rd RED HORSE deputy commander, speaks with U.S. Air Force Master Sgt. Isaiah Maki, 823rd ERHS project manager, about the progress of the Gabriela Mistral primary school in Ocotes Alto, Honduras, June 3, 2015. Elliott visited the site to get a progress update. Elliot said that progress is going at a good pace and things seem on track and on schedule. New Horizons was launched in the 1980s and is an annual joint humanitarian assistance exercise that U.S. Southern Command conducts with a partner nation in Central America, South America or the Caribbean. The exercise improves joint training readiness of U.S. and partner nation civil engineers, medical professionals and support personnel through humanitarian assistance activities.
