Roy Hallums tells his experience as a hostage in Iraq to students of the Dynamics of International Terrorism course May 15 at the Camp Foster Theater. Hallums, a Memphis, Tenn., native, was working as a master labor contractor in Iraq when he was kidnapped by Iraqi insurgents in November 2004 and was held captive for 11 months before being rescued. The DIT course, offered by U.S. Air Force Special Operations School, educates service members and master labor contractors on the fundamentals of local and global terrorism and raise awareness. Hallums is one of several guest speakers with first-hand experience of terrorist events to share their stories with the students to provide a more personal perception of terrorist activity.
