Students with the Advanced Machine Gunner Course, Advanced Infantry Training Battalion-East, record their location and mission during a defensive exercise as part of AMGC, aboard Camp Lejeune, N.C., May 5, 2015. Students with AMGC learned how to designate and position a machine-gun section in a defensive position after surveying the surrounding terrain. The Marines first walked through a wooded area with instructors talking through the decision-making process before going out on their own.
