    II Marine Expeditionary Force

Sgt. Thomas Wright, a combat instructor with the Advanced Machine Gunner Course, Advanced Infantry Training Battalion-East, talks to the students about the variables in deciding the best defensive position for a machine-gun section as part of AMGC, aboard Camp Lejeune, N.C., May 5, 2015. Students with AMGC learned how to designate and position a machine-gun section in a defensive position after surveying the surrounding terrain. The Marines first walked through a wooded area with instructors talking through the decision-making process before going out on their own. This is all to help the Marines become confident making decisions from the front and comfortable briefing senior leadership. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Cpl. Olivia McDonald/Released)
