Gunnery Sgt. Eric Widerman, a combat instructor with the Advanced Machine Gunner Course, Advanced Infantry Training Battalion-East, debriefs students on their location and mission during a defensive exercise as part of AMGC, aboard Camp Lejeune, N.C., May 5, 2015. Students with AMGC learned how to designate and position a machine gun section in a defensive position after surveying the surrounding terrain. The Marines were given 45 minutes to decide the positioning of a machine-gun section to protect a notional embark port from an ambush and later had to debrief their instructors and peers on their positions and decision-making process. This is all to help the Marines become confident making decisions from the front and comfortable briefing senior leadership. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Cpl. Olivia McDonald/Released)
