U.S. Air Force F-16 Fighting Falcon aircraft assigned to the 18th Aggressor Squadron taxi to the Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska, runway April 27, 2015, to participate in a Distant Frontier mission with F-16 pilots and aircraft deployed from the 113th Wing, District of Columbia Air National Guard. Distant Frontier provided the deployed pilots an opportunity to fly orientation flights in the more than 67,000 square-mile Joint Pacific Alaska Range Complex, become familiar with local flying restrictions, receive local safety and survival briefings, and develop orientation plans during the week prior to Red Flag-Alaska 15-2, a Pacific Air Forces-directed field training exercise flown under simulated air combat conditions to increases combat capability.
