TAPAZ, Philippines — U.S. Marine Lance Cpl. Dana Deline, assigned to the 9th Engineer Support Battalion, helps a schoolchild to paint her palm prints on a wall for a mural on a new school building at Don Joaquin Artuz Memorial Elementary School in Tapaz, Philippines, during Balikatan 2015, April 25. The two-classroom building is being constructed by U.S. Marine, Navy, and Armed Forces of the Philippines Army engineers as part of the Combined-Joint Civil-Military Operations Task Force on the island of Panay. Balikatan, which means “shoulder to shoulder” in Filipino, is an annual bilateral training exercise aimed at improving the ability of Philippine and U.S. military forces to work together during planning, humanitarian assistance and disaster relief operations.
