Retired Maj. Gen. Koen Gijsbers, general manager, NATO Communications and Information Agency, explains and applauds the work of Spc. Joshua Smith which allowed him to get the NATO Meritorious Service Medal during the ceremony on NCIA CSSC building, JFC Brunssum, the Netherlands, April 7, 2015. Smith assigned to Alpha Company, Allied Forces North Battalion, is the first Junior Enlisted Army Soldier to receive this award. He distinguished himself while performing preventive and corrective maintenance on deployable Satellite Based Transmission Systems while supporting NATO operations in Kosovo and NATO Communications and Information Agency.
