A fire set by firefighters from the S.C. Forestry Commission burns through the woods in Manchester State Forest April 10, 2015, as part of a joint training exercise with S.C. National Guard Soldiers and Aviators from the 2-151st Security and Support Aviation Battalion. The firefighters trained in calling in the Guardsmen, who then used a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter to drop water from a Bambi Bucket onto the small forest fire. The exercise was conducted to increase the readiness of and train aircrews while testing lines of communication between Guard and civilian personnel. The S.C.N.G. and other civil authorities train together numerous times throughout the year to combine assets, resources and capabilities in preparation to respond to a variety of possible emergencies.
