A U.S. Army soldier in ACU (Army Combat Uniform) is holding and examining the muzzle brake of a large artillery piece or tank cannon in what appears to be a military base in a desert environment. The soldier's name tape reads 'DELON' and he appears to be explaining or demonstrating the weapon component. The setting shows a sandy, arid landscape consistent with Middle Eastern deployment.

Maj. Matthew DeLoia, an artillery officer from Duluth, Minn., shows off one of dozens of abandoned howitzers July 2, which are being refurbished for use by the Iraqi Army at Camp Taji, which is north of Baghdad. DeLoia is a member of a Military Transition Team assigned to the 34th Armored Brigade, 9th Iraqi Army Division, at Camp Taji. "Last fall, our brigade commander was given guidance by the 9th IA commander to pull out of the Taji boneyard roughly a battalion's worth of M109A1 howitzers," DeLoia said. "They [34th Arm. Bde.] have grouped together just a small cadre of local hires and mechanics who have shown great ability to adapt with tools and spare parts."
